With the North American price of natural gas expected to remain relatively low, Canadian producers must find new domestic and international markets for their resources. In 2010, an average of 8.9 BCFPD of natural gas was exported from Canada to the US, down from 10.4 BCFPD
in 2007. As natural gas production in the US continues to increase, BENTEK Energy is forecasting a 2.3 BCFPD decrease in Canadian pipeline natural gas exports over the next five years.1 Expanding Canada’s natural gas export markets beyond the US is one option that has received significant support. Three natural gas liquefaction facilities in British Columbia, with a combined export capacity of 1.8 BCFPD, are currently in the planning stages, and additional projects could be announced.....
