Natural Gas Report - March-April 2013

A growing proportion of North America’s natural gas supply will be produced from low permeability reservoirs that require hydraulic fracturing in order to achieve economic recovery rates. The fracturing process involves pumping fluid into the reservoir, under high pressure, to create fissures that allow the natural gas to flow to the wellbore. Although the use of water-based fracturing fluid has expanded rapidly over the past decade, production concerns associated with water injection have been identified. LPG fracturing technology offers an innovative approach to reservoir stimulation, which can result in longer effective fracture lengths, faster clean-up time, and increased natural gas production.....
